Introduction
The Rwanda Journalists Association organized a mentorship training program aimed at enhancing the skills and knowledge of 10 female journalists in political debates and policy analysis. The training sessions were conducted over a four-month period from August to November 2022. The program proved to be highly successful, attracting a total of 35 journalists, including 27 women and 8 men, and resulting in the publication or airing of 20 news stories.
Training Outcomes
The mentorship training program had several intended outcomes, including:
1. Enhanced Knowledge: The participants gained a deeper understanding of political debates and policy analysis, equipping them with the necessary expertise to cover political issues in a comprehensive and informed manner.
2. Improved Reporting Skills: Through interactive sessions, workshops, and practical exercises, the participants developed their reporting skills, including critical analysis, fact-checking, and effective storytelling techniques.
