Training on implementation of disability inclusion at the grassroots level

On 16th May 2022, the Rwanda Journalists Association (ARJ) will organized a training session focused on the implementation of disability inclusion at the grassroots level and the crucial role of persons with disabilities in socio-economic development.
The training aimed to equip journalists with the necessary knowledge and skills to report on disability-related issues accurately and inclusively.
A total of 20 journalists, comprising 10 men and 10 women, will participate in the training.
The training aimed to achieve several outcomes, including:
1. Increased Awareness: Journalists gained a deeper understanding of disability inclusion, recognizing the importance of promoting the rights and participation of persons with disabilities in society.
2. Enhanced Reporting Skills: Participants developed the skills to report on disability-related issues, ensuring accurate and sensitive coverage while avoiding stereotypes and misconceptions.
3. Increased Collaboration: The training encouraged networking and collaboration among journalists, fostering a supportive environment for sharing experiences, resources, and best practices in disability reporting.
4. Raised Public Awareness: By equipping journalists with the necessary tools, the training aimed to improve public awareness and understanding of disability issues, promoting empathy and inclusion within the broader community.
